Art Destination Studios
The art courses at the Shenandoah Art Destination offer exceptional opportunity to experiment freely. The studio enables students the opportunity to explore all types of drawing and painting in both water and oil based media; pencil, pastel, water-color/gouache, airbrush, acrylic and oil painting. The facility is equipped with a 23×46 Polymetaal Etching Press+ a Book Press for linocuts and woodcuts for printmaking – both etching, dry point and relief. You can work with photo and computer generated imagery through Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Easels, drawing boards, light box, artographs, computer and general studio equipment are provided. Free wireless high-speed internet signal (WiFi) available.
The studio is a large, well-lit space with high ceilings for large canvasses. It is equipped to the highest standards with professional artists’ materials and equipment. We have easy access to a variety of great locations; including the “Natural Bridge”, vineyards and mountain scenes.There is a reference library for our students use. The studio is also available for hire to visiting groups and individuals.

The Shenandoah Art Destination resides on ten acres of grounds, providing the perfect setting for plein-air painting and is a source of inspiration. Enjoy this 120-year-old Federal style manor house, located three miles from historic downtown Lexington.
Rumor has it that the main farmhouse burned to the ground numerous times and was rebuilt from the ashes, again and again.
Our eight guest rooms include private baths, some with jacuzzi’s. The Shenandoah Manor is nestled on a creek-fronted mountainside. Relax on one of the porches and enjoy the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Nearby attractions include the many shops and restaurants in Lexington’s historic district, Virginia Military Institute, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Natural Bridge Caverns and the George Washington National Forest. There are numerous Appalachian Mountain hiking trails.
