Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport/ROA (south of Lexington) offers more than 50 scheduled flights daily (US Airways, United Airlines and Delta), providing nonstop service from nine major cities – Chicago O’Hare , Detroit, Atlanta, New York , Washington Dulles, Philadelphia, Charlotte, Orlando and St Petersburg.
Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport/SHD (north of Lexington) is located in Weyers Cave with smaller flights going into that airport.
From Europe one can fly over New York, Philadelphia or Washington DC; from Australia over Atlanta; from London over Charlotte; from Hong Kong over Chicago. For international travelers we suggest you might want to come a few days earlier to one of these cities to work out the jet lag.
International Travelers may need a non-immigrant visa, Category B-2 for Tourism and Visit. Travelers coming to the U.S. for tourism or business for 90 days or less from qualified countries may be eligible to visit the U.S. without a visa if they meet the visa waiver program requirements.
